Ailish Carroll

Ailish Carroll from Armagh is 32 years of age. She is from a Republican background and herself became actively involved in the Republican movement as a teenager. Ailish graduated from the University of Ulster with 1st Honours Degree in 1989 and went on to begin a teacher training course the following year. At Christmas time 1990 Ailish married Dermot Carroll in Crumlin Road Gaol and was herself arrested and imprisoned in February 1991. She was sentenced, to 15 years for possession or rifles and is due for release in August 1998. Ailish has just completed an Honours Degree course the Open University and attends a variety of classes including woodwork and Irish.
